Founder, Jamie Cristello

From a young age, I have loved the arts and entertainment industry. My first love was dance and then music - singing and playing the flute. Of course I loved watching TV and movies but it wasn't until I attended Ithaca College that I fell in love with video production- specifically editing. I had a brief stint in Los Angeles where I interned with the Bedford Falls Company and 20th Century Fox in the casting department. Like most people in LA, I also worked as an extra in numerous television shows.
Life led me back to New York, where I ultimately decided to pursue a Masters Degree in Dance Education from NYU (my dream school!). After spending a few years teaching dance in public schools, I realized just how much I missed production and editing! I decided to pursue an MFA in Television Production at Brooklyn College. While there, I sought out ways to integrate dance or movement into my work. For my final projects, I chose to direct a live multi-camera basketball game and... a musical. Filming and editing movement became a passion of mine and allowed me to mesh together all my experience with dance, sports, and music.

After graduating, I contemplated forming a production company but wasn't ready yet. Fast forward to 2020. I was teaching remotely- on the computer all day long and trying to engage students in dance. I was constantly trying to find videos and information to enhance my teaching and all performing arts educators majorly had to shift their teaching. More online performances were popping up as a way to deal with this shift. I realized that I wanted to help. First, I wanted to create content for children that taught them information in an exciting way. Second, I wanted to help my fellow educators. I understood how the body moved and what performances should look like. Teachers were overwhelmed and I wanted to use my editing expertise to help them with their dance performances. With these thoughts in mind, I decided it was time to make my production company a reality and Rhythm & Grace Productions was born.
